Gosh! Wish there were no exams? My mom wants me to do better than Amit always!! That’s not fair. On top of it, these erratic power cuts. It really gets on my nerves. I have my board exams next month and every evening there is a power cut. I have to study in the emergency lamp and my eyes hurt and have a headache.
I am so scared what if I fail

Hi Neha,
Where are you located? I am from Pune where this power cut problem is haunting us daily. My son will also be appearing for his 10th board exams from March. So I can well imagine the hyper activity in your household. Well, you are talking about YOUR mother, but as an equally hyper mother let me tell you something. If you are having power cuts in the evenings, then try and cover up your reading portion during the day time in natural light. Set a timetable and allot time for every subject. If Maths and Science is your worry, then spend the evening time, before dark as well as in emergency light, to solve examples. This way it will be easier on you and you will not need to strain your eyes to read & concentrate. Study till lunch time, then take a short nap to refresh yourself, have some tea/coffee/milk, relax and then again study till sunset. Then take a break, watch TV for a few minutes or take a walk to relax your body & mind, then if the power is off, just solve sums / examples in the emergency light. Have your dinner, then just scan through the portion before you retire to bed. In between studies, some break and relaxation is mandatory, as it refreshes the mind, or else you end up holding the book in front of your eyes, without a single word sinking in. That is bad. All the important reading work should be done in the morning after bath and freshening up, as in the morning our mind is alert and inducive to grasping the read matter. As the day passes by and our mind starts feeling tired, it is better to keep it pepped up with light work by the end of the day. Just follow this simple routine and you will not feel the tension of the studies anymore. Eat well and get plenty of rest / sleep. If possible, try this...........soak 2 almonds in the night and eat them first thing in the morning after brushing, on an empty stomach. Almonds are a good brain tonic and help you increase your memory power. So what ever you read and grasp, remains in your head. ![]() Be calm and composed........trust your own ability........and you will surely emerge a winner. Love, and all the best for your exams. |

Hi,
How I wish my son was a little more serious about his studies!!! All the year long in the 10th class, he was very casual and "happy-go-lucky" type, realzing the gravity of the situation only after his prelims!!! His casual attitude was not much help in the prelims and that is when we chalked the regime for him. Luckily he followed it and it paid off quite well I should say. If he had taken things seriously right from the beginning, he would have easily touched 90%, but even with his carefree approach and unstressed out mind, he managed to secure 85% in his boards. As parents we are glad that the routine as well as the brain tonic worked a lot for him. Now it is our duty to appreciate the fruits of his labour and support him in his future endeavours. |
