LOVE is a very beautiful and meaningful word. Each one of us looks forward to this phenomenon to enter our life at some point of time.

Let me explain the 4 selective terms that are used to describe the word.

L = Longing: Every individual nurtures a desire to be appreciated and taken notice of. The feeling may be average as far as the majority of the people around you are concerned. But there is always someone “special”, whose attention and appreciation means a whole lot of world to you. THIS inner feeling of attraction towards that special person is LONGING. You long to be in the person’s company, yearn to share some private romantic moments, look forward to the few appreciative glances and words that come from that source. So the basic of love is a yearning or longing for a particular individual who is unique in his / her own rights, according to you.


O = Open: For a successful relationship, it is of prime importance that there is no charade between the 2 partners. Masked appearances may fool your partner for the time being, but when the truth dawns – relationship turns sour. Always be frank, open and honest in your dealings of the heart. Project your true self and let the other person decide whether your projection is agreeable to him / her as a companion or not. Friendship and committed relationships built on a foundation of openness last far longer than the ones based on falsehood.

V = Vital: God made man and man made relationships. It is very important that we have some kind of relationship in life to keep us going. RELATIONSHIP does not necessarily mean an affair of the heart. It can be a husband – wife, parent – child, friend, sibling, colleague, employer……..just anybody. A relationship means an interactive process between 2 individuals. And of course nothing can be more invigorating than the affair of the heart!!! The whole importance of relationship is that you know that there is someone else out there for you, who cares for you, knows your existence and would stand by you in your time of crisis to give you moral & emotional support.
This very feeling is enough to keep an individual happy and gives each one a sense of belonging and a reason to live in this wide world. Thus it is a very vital process for our survival.

E = Emotional: A person needs emotional security. This comes when you are in a relationship and share a tender yet strong bond with your partner. An emotionally stable person grows to be a successful and level headed human being. There are no apprehensions about what the future holds in store for you as far as the heart is concerned and you know for sure where your interest for the life lays. There are no conflicts in your mind and one can have a peaceful existence when the emotions are under control. When you know that you are loved by someone in a special way, you feel at peace with yourself and the relaxed mind projects a very positive image. Every individual likes to be recognized and appreciated. Love gives this recognition new dimension and encourages us to take pride in our identity. It is a great morale booster. Love makes you more emotional, empathetic, considerate & caring towards other humans. It also helps wipe out sarcasm, cynicism, bitterness from your life.

Hence the next time we think of “falling in love”, we should bear in mind the wonders that this small 4 letter word can mete out. It is God’s gift for a healthy and wonderful life style. Make the most of it.
