Default Love – how to maintain the relationship

Struck by the cupid? Wow, what an experience!!! Ok, so now you have managed to fall in love. But do you know how to hold on to your partner forever?
Falling in love may sound very interesting, romantic and adventurous. But dear friends, the REAL adventure begins later as you strive hard to keep the relationship ticking and surviving the tests of time.

Here are just a few markers to make you aware of the dos & don’ts in the relationship.
DO:
1] Appreciate the person’s presence in your life. There is no need to be a parrot and repeat it every other moment, as it sounds too artificial. But a gentle reminder once in a while surely makes the partner happy.
2] Show concern for his / her needs and demands. Everybody likes to be pampered sometimes.
3] Trust is the key for a secure relationship. If you genuinely love the person, show trust and solidarity as this boosts the morale of the partner.
4] It may not be an expensive gadget or an ornament, but just a flower presented as a token of love can mean a lot.
5] When together, learn to share some lighter moments in your loved one’s company.
6] Before marriage it may not be possible for long vacations together (in orthodox society), yet, try and manage a quiet outing to unwind and relax.
7] Remember some days that matter the most……….birthdays, your first meeting anniversary, etc. Just a warm wish on these special days, make the world seem brighter.
8] Give a call to say that “I love you” or “I miss you”. The person feels special by listening to these tender whispers.
9] Have an occasional fun outing with your gang of common friends, as some extra company may help you feel enthusiastic and may not be a reason of boredom with your partner’s solo company.
10] Be attentive and take interest in your partner’s activities & work.

DON’T:
1] Smother your loved one with over affection, as it may be wrongly interpreted as some fake or charade.
2] Even if you are deeply in love, remember that he / she are an individual in their own right and have the full right to live life according to their own free will.
3] When you meet, try to keep your worries and tensions behind and do not spoil some beautiful moments that you need to share.
4] Family matters and work place woes are best kept in a closet than opening them in your romantic meets.
5] Try to be too possessive or demanding, as this behaviour can turn off the partner.
6] Whatever be the issues one faces with their family members, NEVER make the mistake of openly criticizing the partner’s family and their life style. After all, however they may be, they ARE his / her near & dear ones.
7] Show suspicion when they try to talk to other members of opposite sex. You are not entitled to comment on their choice of friends. Showing distrust and suspicion indicates that you are not sure about the strength of your relationship. That is pretty sad.
8] If you come from different strata of society, try not to exhibit your superiority by showering the partner with expensive gifts. This not only creates a complex, but also puts the lesser partner under undue obligation.
9] Give a chance to your partner to crib about your callousness or disinterest in the things which they wish to share with you.
10] The MOST important thing………….DO NOT RUSH YOUR PARTNER TOWARDS THE FINAL STEP IN COMMITMENT. Give the person time to come to term with the relationship and to analyze the actual standing of the 2 partners before anyone of you finally decide to say “I DO”.

These 10 simple steps at both ends can ensure that you can have a happy relationship and a successful love life.
