How safe are we?

When one opens a newspaper in the morning, we come across news which are very depressing and agonising. The reason being that every other day there are a couple of terrorist attacks, rape cases, a few murders or riots taking place in some corner of the earth or the other.
When God created human beings & animals, little did he realise that one day Humans, his so called supreme creation would put the 4 legged ones to shame by their wild and vicious nature.
Why is there so much of violence and monstrosity ? The human has been a habitant on this planet for a long period now and in the early stages there was much peace and harmony.
As the planet size grew with overflowing population, so did jealousy and animosity. People felt threatened by the other individuals existance and thus arose the mentality of hatred and a process of getting rid of the other individual. This very strangely gave them a sense of ''security".
How far is it true? Is it really difficult to live in harmony and peace? Why can't we accept the motto of "live and let live"? Today's world is too far paced for comfort and this in turn creates a lot of stress and tension. So a little reason is enough to give vent to your frustrations. But is it right to adopt such heinous methods such as rape, murder or carnage of innocent people in the guise of terrorists?
A peaceful co-existance is a myth now and everyday is a dreadful day in the life of a commoner, as we do not know wether we will return home safely to our secure nest and not live to see another day.
