Question Can we expect a New Era?

April 2009 dawned with another milestone in the Indian history in making. This month India goes to the polls & gets ready to choose a new government that would take the reins of this country in their “able” hands.

Time and over again, the Indian citizens have gone through this regime of exercising their voting power to elect a government that would bring stability and peace. When the parties campaign before the polls, they make a lot of promises and paint many rosy pictures. The urban crowd has some sensibility and tries their best to analyze the facts and figures before franchising their right to vote. But the rural ones are the more gullible targets for the scheming politicians. The poor unsuspecting souls fall easy prey to the promises and tall claims made by the party campaigners and hence go ahead & vote the party that is not worthy of the trust bestowed upon them.

Since the past couple of years we have noticed that young blood of the stalwart, seasoned politicians have entered the arena and are gearing up to lead the country from the front. There are divided opinions about such issues, as the older generation does not think that highly of these young budding talents and would rather feel “safe” entrusting the rule to the old bones, as they are an experienced lot. But the younger generation begs to differ and feel that the old politicians have very set ideas and conservative approach. Whereas, the need of the hour is a leader that can envisage the future of the country with deep thought and be one with the times.

It was all very well when the politicians of yesteryear were in tune with each other and came together for the betterment of the country. But now the scenario has changed and each political party tries to pull down their rival, little caring that the people of the country are the ultimate sufferers in this tug of war for power.
Do we really think that we have able leaders to show us the way in these times of global crisis? Or are we being taken for a ride every time and then left in the dark, to find the light of the day? It is our prerogative to choose the leader, the one who will lead the way in such a manner that he /she sets an example by own behavior that a good nation is the one which is free of corruption, unemployment & fear of life against terrorism.

Vote wisely and select a good government which will lead our nation into stability, prosperity and advancement. So with this young generation of politicians, who are gearing up to lead “young” India into the future, can we safely expect a dawning of a new era which will help soar the image of our country all around the globe? Let’s hope for the best.
